Turner Gill Visits BASCS
On May 13th, 2009 UB head
football coach Turner Gill visited BASCS and spoke with our middle school
students. Coach Gill took time out of his busy schedule to talk to our students
about life and how to be successful. He focused on three key words: Knowledge,
Hard work, and Attitude, and how those words add up to success in life and on
the football field. All of our students enjoyed the speech and were very well
behaved. Many stayed afterwards to get an autograph and a picture with Coach
Gill, which he graciously signed for every student who asked.

Coach Gill has guided a once
very poor football program at UB, to a MAC Championship team in three years’
time. Before he got into coaching he played quarterback at the University of
Nebraska, where he was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy and led the
Cornhuskers to a National Championship game. He explained how he enjoys
teaching and coaching young men on and off the football field and watching them
succeed in life. One of his goals is to get every one of his football players
to graduate with a college degree from UB. BASCS would like to thank Coach Gill
for taking the time to speak to our students. He is a true gentleman and a
great role model for all of our students here at BASCS!!
