The 68th annual Western New York
Science Congress was held on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Buffalo State College.
This year was the first year for students at Buffalo Academy of Science
to participate and they returned successful!
Diondre Smith and Demarius Ferguson showcased
their experiment which assessed the efficiency of two different home-made solar
ovens. Their hypothesis was proved
otherwise and they discovered that a Pringles-can solar oven was in fact the
best for cooking their pizzas.

Moiela Mohammad and Nuliyar Tursunova were
awarded a BRONZE MEDAL in the senior division for their experiment entitled
“You Can’t Touch This” that proved we transfer bacteria from one person to
another when we shake hands.
They also showed that even though we wash our hands we still carry bacteria
with us at all times.
Congratulations to both teams!!!
We’re looking forward to see what next year’s entrants will teach us.
